Submitted by TheDieline.com reader and talented designer Ben Schlitter, the packaging he designed for TwentyFour Wine is innovative and beautiful! According to Ben, “A significant portion of my design focuses on using ordinary materials in new ways. In that spirit I created TwentyFour Wine which uses rubber bands as its label. In doing so an everyday item is transformed into something beautiful. This reflects a good wine’s ability to transform a normal meal or occasion into something more meaningful and unique. The name TwentyFour refers to the circumference of the bottle (in centimeters). As an added bonus the rubber bands ensure that the bottle will not slip from your hands after an enjoyable evening with friends!” Truly ingenious!

New work from Victor Fong, a Visual Communications/Designed Objects student from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC):
“I was given the names of the wine, Quattro, Cinco, and Neuf. One of my main goals was to come up with a distinctive way of conveying the numbers without using the ordinary numerals. After trying with multi-sided shapes and stars and other similar types of symbols, the tally marks was the best in conveying the numbers as it provides a sense of customization and familiarity while still giving a modern and sophisticated feel, especially since the symbols are in silver on the black background. The small icons and the counter-filled names gives it a distinct look. The combination of horizontal and vertical texts tie together nicely between the bottle neck label and the label on the back of the wine, and providing at different positions as the lable could be placed standing up straight or on its side on a wine rack.”

Xavier Flouret Wines (Vino X)

vino-x

Designed by Deka Design:”This series of wine labels won the Double Gold Prize for Design at the 2008 San Francisco International Wine Festival just days after being released.

“X” shape is the icon of the brand. X is a little mysterious. X is a little naughty. X also marks the spot: as in the location of the winery shown on the back label. The story of the wine maker is an integral part of the design along with concise facts about the wine itself.”
